Privacy policy and account deletion
What this app collects, why it collects it, and what you can ask us to delete.
Algevaro - AI Math Tutor ("Algevaro", "we") is published by ratibumu. This policy describes what the Algevaro app for iPhone, iPad and Android and its servers do with information. Algevaro is meant for people aged 13 and over.
To delete your account and data, open the You tab in the app, or send a request through the support page if the app is not installed. The steps are under "Delete your account and data" below.
The short version
- There is no sign-up. The app creates an anonymous identity on your device. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- Problems you type, photograph, handwrite or speak are sent to our servers and processed by an AI provider to produce your answer. They are not stored on our servers after the answer is returned.
- Your notebook, practice history, flashcards, progress and settings stay on your device.
- Our servers keep only counters, install and subscription records, and reports you choose to send.
- Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics receive content-free usage events and crash reports.
- There are no ads, we do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- You can delete your account and data from the app at any time, even after a subscription has ended.
Delete your account and data
In the app. Open the You tab and choose the option to delete your account and data. The app explains what will be removed and asks you to confirm. Then it:
- asks our servers to delete the records tied to your anonymous identity;
- deletes your anonymous Firebase account;
- erases everything Algevaro stored on your device, including your notebook, and removes the app's install key.
If something fails part-way, the app keeps what is left and offers to try again. Deletion needs no sign-in and no active subscription. It cannot be undone.
Without the app. You do not need to reinstall Algevaro to ask for deletion. Send a request through the support page with the subject "Delete my Algevaro data". Tell us which platform you used (iPhone or iPad, or Android) and, if you subscribed, the order or transaction number from your store receipt. We reply to the address you give to confirm the request and to tell you the result.
We do not know your name or email address, so we can match server records to you only through details you can give us, such as a purchase reference. If we cannot find records that belong to you, we will say so instead of guessing.
What deletion removes.
- From our servers: the anonymous account and install records (including the install's public key), single-use request values, daily usage counters, and subscription verification records with their encrypted purchase references and install bindings, and any reports you sent.
- From Firebase: your anonymous user.
- From your device: your notebook, solutions, practice history, flashcards, progress, profile and settings.
What deletion does not remove.
- Your subscription. Deleting your account does not cancel billing, which is handled by Apple or Google. To cancel, use Manage subscription on the You tab, or the subscription settings of your Apple ID or Google Play account. Apple and Google keep their own purchase records under their policies.
- Analytics and crash data. Google holds these under Firebase's own retention settings. They contain no name, email address or problem content.
- Files you exported or shared from the app. They are copies you control outside Algevaro.
What is sent when you ask for help
Algevaro asks for your agreement in a one-time notice before your first AI request. If you choose Not now, nothing is sent to the AI provider. You can withdraw your agreement later with the AI help switch under Data and privacy on the You tab.
Each request carries only what that feature needs:
- Typed problems, follow-up questions and practice answers: the text you wrote, and the problem it belongs to.
- Photos: the cropped photo, resized and compressed on your device, so the problem can be read. The same applies to a photo of your own working when you use Check my work.
- Handwriting: your drawing, sent as an image so it can be read as a problem.
- Voice: a recording of up to 45 seconds, made only while you hold the record button, so it can be turned into a typed problem.
- Your tutor profile: your level, goal, explanation style, the analogies setting, up to five weak topics and up to three recent misconceptions, so explanations fit you. These are short labels, not your notebook.
- A short summary of the current solution: used when you chat about a problem or make flashcards.
Please keep names, contact details and other personal information out of problems, photos and recordings. Camera, photo library and microphone permissions are asked only when you first use that input, and typing always works without them.
Who receives it
- Our servers receive the request, check your identity, subscription and daily allowance, and pass it to the AI provider through our AI gateway. They return the answer and do not keep the content of your request.
- An AI model provider processes the request to produce the answer, under its own terms. It receives the content of that request and nothing from your notebook.
- Google provides Firebase Authentication, App Check, Analytics and Crashlytics. See Firebase privacy information.
- Apple and Google process your purchases and provide device and app integrity checks (App Attest and DeviceCheck on iOS, Play Integrity on Android).
- Cloudflare delivers traffic to our servers and necessarily sees connection details such as your IP address.
We do not share information with anyone else, except where the law requires it. We do not use your content for advertising, and we do not sell personal information.
What our servers store
- Your anonymous Firebase user identifier, a random install identifier, the install's public signing key, its platform, app version and creation time. The matching private key stays in your device's secure storage.
- Single-use request values that stop a request being replayed, and daily usage counters that enforce the allowance for your account.
- Subscription records: the product, its status and expiry, an encrypted purchase reference from the store, and which installs use the purchase (at most three).
- Reports you send. See below.
This is the full list. Problem text, photos, handwriting, recordings, answers and chat messages are not on it.
What stays on your device
Your solutions, notebook, starred items, practice results, flashcards, mastery, streak, tutor profile and settings are stored in a database on your device and are never uploaded as a set. Export my data on the You tab creates a file that you can share wherever you choose. Read aloud uses the speech engine that is installed on your device.
Analytics and crash reports
Firebase Analytics records which screens are opened, whether operations succeed or fail, and how far people get through the subscription screens. Crashlytics records crashes with the app version, device model, operating system version and a stack trace. Google also derives an approximate location, such as country or city, from your network address. None of this contains problem text, photos, recordings or answers.
The app does not use the advertising identifier and does not ask to track you. You can stop this collection by deleting your account and uninstalling the app.
Subscriptions
Apple or Google handles checkout and payment, and we never see your card details. The app reads your current subscription from the store, and our servers check it with the App Store and Google Play so that paid features work on your devices and can be restored. Subscriptions renew until you cancel them in the store.
Reports about answers
Answers are generated by AI and can be wrong. If an answer is wrong, unsafe or offensive, use Report on it. The app shows you what will be sent and asks before sending: the excerpt of the AI text (up to 1,200 characters), the problem it answers, the reason you pick and an optional note of up to 400 characters. We read reports to improve safety. They are never sent to a model, they are removed when you delete your account, and we remove each one within 180 days at the latest.
Retention
- Request content (problems, photos, handwriting, recordings, answers, chat): not stored by us after the answer is returned.
- Install, counter and subscription records: kept while your account exists, until you delete it.
- Reports: until you delete your account, and in any case at most 180 days.
- Analytics and crash data: kept by Google under Firebase's retention settings.
- On your device: until you delete items, delete your account or uninstall the app.
Children
Algevaro is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, tell us through the support page and we will delete the related records that we can identify.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your information, to object to some processing, or to complain to a data protection authority. You can delete your data as described above, and export your notebook from the app. Because server records are tied to an anonymous identifier and hold no notebook content, an access request can only cover records we can match to you. Send requests through the support page.
Security and transfers
Traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. Requests are signed by a key held in your device's secure storage, and purchase references are encrypted where we store them. Our servers and providers may process information in countries other than yours.
Changes
When our practices change we update this page. The app links here from the You tab and from the subscription screen.
